Impact Report: SlavConf Decipher 2023

The annual Impact Report based on the 7th edition of SlavConf Decipher has been published on the community and event platform ConvoCircle. The Impact Report is an archival summary which is issued after each edition to recap the most valuable outcome of the conference. It can be downloaded for free by any registered user on ConvoCircle.

Since 2017, SlavConf has evolved from a student conference at Sofia University, to a global virtual gathering of key figures in the contemporary creative industry. The event has been influenced by the ever-changing image of society with the aim to archive notable achievements which will remain in history and shape the era we live in. In 2023, under the topic Decipher, the conference gathered professionals from various fields as well as aspiring creatives who shared their views and experience on the future of creativity and technological progress. And even though SlavConf is constantly adapting to the newest trends and accomplishments, its ultimate goal has stayed the same: to discover the insights and  hidden gems of the industry, and make inaccessible information available to the new generations.

The development of AI technology has significantly transformed the creative industry by expanding the boundaries of artistic expression and production. AI tools enable artists, designers, and creators to generate ideas, automate repetitive tasks, and even create entirely new forms of art. In fields like music, visual arts, and writing, AI can assist in brainstorming, design prototyping, and content generation, speeding up workflows and opening up innovative possibilities.

This fusion of human creativity with AI’s data-driven capabilities has led to unique collaborations, democratising creative tools for a wider audience and pushing the limits of traditional artistry. AI’s influence on the creative industry has also raised several concerns. One major issue is the fear of job displacement, as AI can automate tasks traditionally done by artists, designers, and writers, potentially reducing demand for human creators. Additionally, there are concerns over originality and authenticity, as AI-generated content may lack the emotional depth or unique perspective that human creativity offers. Intellectual property issues have also emerged, with debates about ownership rights for AI-generated works and the potential misuse of existing copyrighted material to train AI models without proper attribution.

In 2024, the debate will continue at SlavConf Envision based on the conclusions and outcome of the present Impact Report. The keywords for the consecutive edition are artificial intelligence, career change, apprenticeship, data processing, architectural pathways, visual identity, emotional branding and community-driven work. The 8th edition of the conference will take place on 26-27 July 2024 virtually on the community and event platform ConvoCircle.
